UX Designer – Digital Commerce
Daniel Defense, September 2022 – Present

Focused on growing the digital sales channel via DanielDefense.com, my role focused primarily and initially on intelligent Marketing operations. Persona development, segmentation, experimentation, and reporting were my key roles. My driving force was defining the customer, experimenting to find more optimal ways to connect with them, and truly understanding them. As opportunities opened up, I also took on email and site design and development.

  • Using industry research from many sources, develop personas that represent our customers. Lead Digital Marketing efforts to reach segments of customers with the right message at the right time.
  • Leverage Optimizely Web Experimentation, as well as depth of knowledge in design and development, to lead with a hypothesis, design to test a hypothesis, report the results, and propose new approaches and learnings for the Marketing team.
  • Leverage my end-to-end digital marketing experience to understand the customer journey from engagement to purchase, identify pain points, design solutions, and test via experimentation.

Sr. UX Designer – CoE – Products and Platforms
HCL Technologies, February 2019 – September 2022

Based in HCL’s Center of Excellence, I focused on exercising and applying UX design principles and guidance. I applied skills learned over many years in digital marketing and digital/user experience design to craft end-to-end solutions that guide the user and advocated for ease of use.

  • Provide guidance and uphold UX principles set by the Center of Excellence. Design and develop guidelines using user research and survey tools to raise the adoption of a single design language and design system.
  • This was a cross-product role intended to work inside a core team to develop the tools necessary for product teams to align, brand, develop, and build compliant and consistent applications in the HCL Software portfolio.
  • UX practitioner applying skills for an emerging eCommerce platform, focusing on speed and delivery of customer renewals and software quote delivery.

Digital & Multimedia Director Global Events
Contracted to IBM Events via SDI International, July 2017 – February 2019

Leverage my skills and expertise in digital marketing and the digital ecosystem to build, develop, launch, and creatively direct digital creation for the IBM Events group, which is focused on customer engagement. Lead, create, and design event-specific communications, Social and digital media assets, and site design and development. Design, architect, and lead strategy for the user experience across new and emerging digital experiences for event attendees.

  • Drove the yearly design cycle for the main IBM Conference “Think.”
  • Developed, designed, and released digital assets to support multiple smaller events.
  • Built and deployed multiple digital assets to maintain a marketing journey to build awareness and attendance at events.
